Microsoft invited Coach Hines to speak to 300 inner-city youths from Metro Atlanta.
I shared my story of an 18-year Hall of Fame pro basketball career and about life after basketball. The SAM-Foundation will partner with corporations, foundations, and school systems to encourage students and help Coach Hines continue to tell his story. "It's so important to help youth avoid the pitfalls that I and many have experienced when growing up. When giving youth positive exposure, it will open new opportunities for them to consider. Nascar Experience- Hines states, "I was very thrilled to spend a day with Kyle Busch and his team. After receiving my full access pass, I split my time in the fully stocked suite, where you could sit back and watch the race on tv or directly though the glass, walked to pit row, watching the cars pass inspection, watching the crew change tires, listening to interaction from crew chief talk about drafting with K. Busch, and smelling the rubber burning. I learned that technology in Nascar is a must. Tires are tested and put on a rack for later studies, wow. I mean each time, lmbo. It was a great experience.
After I was introduced to Dr. Scott, we quickly formed a professional relationship.
In order to see the need Dr. Scott described in Macon, I left my own camp for several weeks to travel to Macon and partnered with the HPL-STREAM leadership Camp Workshop. What an amazing experience watching Dr. Scott change the lives of the youth in Macon through her STEM program. Legacy Builders Foundation - https://www.legacybuildersfoundationinc.org/
Big thanks to Vinnie Politan, (CourtTV), who not only got me on the news to tell my story of helping the youth, but he hosted my 1st Securing A Mind Foundation Golf Event with legendary Hall of Fame - John Smoltz (Atlanta Braves). Ou local news team gave us great support and helped the community learn that we partner with the local police departments, fire departmets, attorneys, dentists, & pastors. They always come out to support us with their time and resources. The kids were amazed to learn something different from each profession.
Hines states, "I learned about Toastmaster International years ago and was asked to speak in front of a group in Cumming, Georgia. The diverse group gave me good feedback on relaxing more; they said the kids need to hear my international story. I took their advice to become a better speaker." www.toastmastersinternational.com
Hines states, "We had the great opportunity to partner with Adaptive Sports. Basketball, hockey, and archery athletes not only displayed their elite skills but also shared their life story. Superstar Gavin Cloy told us about one evening he was reckless and tried to beat a train. After recovering from surgery, basketball saved Gavin's life." We look forward to continuing a relationship and bringing these incredible people and athletes in front of our youth to help them remain focus on their goals no matter what life throws your way. www.adaptivesports.org
The Securing A Mind Foundation had an opportunity to sit and watch my son's Game Elite Basketball Team join a focus group meeting with Adidas. The athletes learned about marketing, research and development, and also they had a chance to ask numerous of questions. Each one of these athletes are currently playing on a D1 school. The Securing A Mind Foundation looks forward in supporting such programs as this in the future.
For years, the Securing A Mind Foundation has donated to North Fulton Community Center, Goodwill, and other organizations. It's important to teach our youth why we give, what we give, and how it will impact the lives of someone who is in need. Hines states, "I traveled in many foreign countries watching children play without shoes, playing with leather-less soccer balls with a smile on their faces. This made me want to teach youth to not take life for granted." North Fulton Community Charities assists residents living in North Fulton while serving the cities of Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park and Roswell with short-term emergency needs. www.nfcchelp.org
Hines states, "One of the highlights of my life was partnering with Microsoft and conducting a computer workshop for the youth during our community event. Microsoft's corporate mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.”
The Securing A Mind Foundation partners with individuals, organizations and foundations to raise money, in order for the foundation to reach the less fortunate youth. It is vital that we leave no child behind. We want to be proactive and have the funds to be able to let the parents know we can and will help your child attend our programs.
Through my annual community and sports clinics, I still plan to challenge youngsters on how to hit the winning shot and fight against bullying at all times. They will be able to learn from qualified professionals from all walks of life how sports can help strengthen your mind through hard times and become a productive citizen. www.publicjustice.net
The Securing A Mind Foundation believes that it takes a village to develop a child and looks for strong partnerships with like-minded organizations who want to enhance the lives of all youths. Court mandate community services is a great opportunity to help a child get back on the right track through our structured programs.
