WHERE EVERY CHILD IS MVP
Not only is Sterling my daughter but one of best well rounded people I know. She is smart, strong, loyal and former 2x POY in volleyball. She recieved her degree in Actuarial Science fro GSU. In the past, she helped mentor kids & conduct youth sports camps at my facility, Hoop N Sand. The youth would glue themselves to Sterling because just like dad, she does not play and will give constructive criticism. Her future is so bright I look forward to seeing Sterling lead the next generation.
Sam Hines, Jr., is the son of S.A.M. Foundation founder. Hines Jr. states, "My father's program helped me learn how important the little things are in basketball, and how to approach it as a young man. I learned that you should have integrity on and off the court, and should treat other aspects of life, such as grades, with the same amount of energy. "Congrats to Sam Jr. and his academic accomplishments," says dad.
The nation's No. 2 OT in 2025 plays his ball in the Peach State. Hines states, "When I read this article, it made me so proud and reminded me that my program really made a difference. This young man was fierce with the older kids. Now he stands 6'5" 265lbs playing football. I am looking forward to keeping an eye on his progress. Joshua attended many camps with his siblings for years. Our camps provided youth opportunity to participate in different sports which helps them with their hand-eye
Sam is an amazing friend and coach. He coached me in Italy during his free time while playing for the professional club Cantu. Sam moved from coaching in the stands to attending practices. With Sam's experience, my team grew immensely helping us with better chemistry which resulted in many more wins. Thanks to him, I also grew as a person and became the young woman I am today. He taught me important values and we have a beautiful friendship that started 21 years ago. www.geniusin21daysusacom
"Coach Hines is helping me learn to play on the wing and the post. I have learned how hard I have to work if I plan to play in college; he does not allow shortcuts. He pushes me to my limits so I can be the best possible version of myself." Jake's father and I played at the University of South Alabama, and I was fortunate to train his son in 2021, helping him prepare for the upcoming season. He has great potential as he gets stronger and learns to play with passion.
Coach Hines: "I think the biggest thing he gave when I needed it the most was support. He gave me the confidence to excel and be the player I was capable of being. At a time in my life when everyone else wanted me to conform to their visions of who I should be, he encouraged me to be myself, and to me, that's bigger than any technique or skill you could have taught me. Having someone in my corner is everything, and I appreciate you still to this day 10 years later for that."
K.R. states, "Your program helped me grow not just as a basketball player but also as a young man. I was given the responsibilities of running the team at the point guard position, Coach pushed me to be great, and we won three championships. From being in the program, I learned the fundamentals of basketball that I still use today. The defensive stance really helped shape the great defender I am turning out to be today, and I wouldn't change anything."
Hey Coach, here you go.... "Coach Hines' program has been one of the contributors to my athletic success. I originally wanted to play basketball, but eventually discovered that I was a football player. Coach Hines' coaching and leadership has shown me not only what it means to be a great athlete but also a great man."
Coach Hines and his program helped me grow as a person on and off the court. I've learned details about the game from someone who has played at the highest levels for 18 years. Working out with Coach Hines on the off-season, my jump shot has been improving daily because of his constant encouragement to continue to work on the small shooting mechanics. With this in mind, I am taking my game to the next level.
Jack played center for Hines but received a scholarship running cross country and track at Ole Miss. The mix of athletic intensity, the drive to compete, the concept of team along with the positive approach and respect for the athlete brought by Coach Sam and his coaching staff laid the foundation for Jack's love of and his ongoing success in athletics. Jack was named to the SEC All Conf. Freshman Team, anSEC Championship Team and 3 consecutive trips to thNCAA Cross Country Championship Finals
Coach Hines has impacted my life with more than basketball. Since high school, he has been a father figure, helping me through life's problems, and instilling in me how to be a pro. He has helped my basketball game not only through his encouraging words but working me out through many drills, many one-on-one games, and shooting competitions. He has helped my game grow while mastering the fundamentals.
Coach Hines developed a sense of commitment within his program and for his players. He made it clear to me from a young age that in order to achieve any goal, one must put in hard work and not any shortcuts. I appreciate how his coaching turned his players from boys into young men. He showed true care for us and supported us through basketball and by teaching us life lessons.
Coach Hines' program was the starting point for where I am today. I played for coach's travel basketball team and won a lot on and off the court. Coach encouraged me to be aggressive with my decisions. From there, I learned how to be able to shoot from anywhere and challenge myself to have a high basketball IQ. The program also taught me the basics of basketball, but most of all, it taught me how to work with others and be able to become a leader on and off the court.

Coach taught me that there is no substitution for hard work. Through tough drills and long practices, he showed me how important it was to have a strong work ethic. His diligence and integrity far surpass the standards of an average coach. His focus on fundamentals showed me the value in focusing on the details; a philosophy I have utilized in all aspects of life. Working with coach was an extreme privilege, his mentorship and the values he has instilled in me will stay with me forever.
Working with Sam has taught me so many valuable lessons throughout the years on and off the court. I was fortunate enough to play on the collegiate and pro level. Sam also inspired me to become a teacher and coach. His program is where I learned these leadership skills. I appreciate him for giving back and supporting me throughout the years and being an inspiration. I now coach five sports at my high school.

"Coach Sam" truly loves children and loves coaching and instilling in children self-motivation, ownership of hard work and accomplishment, teamwork, and the love of sports and physical fitness. With coach, it's not the winning, it's the pride the children put into the effort that he stresses and celebrates in his students. I know from personal conversation with Coach Sam, that he coaches his son in basketball, baseball and football and brings this same motivation to every child."
Matthew trained at Hoops N Sand in his teens, and he immediately knew my workouts were not easy. While in a basketball position and game speed, we worked on footwork and shooting drills for hours. He learned that if you want result, you will have to work hard each second, each minute, each hour to gain the advantage of your opponent. As soon as he realized that, I knew he would be a special talent on any team he would play on in the future.
Master Chef Junior Winner S5. Look up Jasmine Delightful Desserts. Hines states, "Jazmine attended one of my camps full of energy. Competing against her brother and friends, she stepped up to volunteer the proper way of taking a charge in basketball. As the campers watched, Jazmine slide her feet, received the contact from the offensive player, fell back and screamed so loudly as if she was in great pain. It was one of the best videos ever. I still laugh when I think about it today."
Jeffrey states, "I started my journey with sports, and I was dedicated to become the best. During my journey, I realized I could go excel farther with my mind. Sports showed me how to be discipline and patient to achieve my goals." This young man is one of the best youth to ever attend my camps. He now attends Georgia Tech, and I have no doubt he will accomplish his goals. We will check up on our participants from time to time.
Sacripanti was the best coach I ever had. He not only let me play my game but I learned that he coached many NBA players. One of his articles said I was the best of them all. Wow, what a compliment from a Hall of Famer."
